Alex Polo, born March 10, 1961, passed away on December 14, 2025. He was born in Morelia, Michoacán, Mexico, and came to the United States at just two years old. As an adult, he proudly became a citizen of the United States, a milestone that reflected his deep commitment to the life he built here. Alex dedicated his career to auto repair and, as a master mechanic, earned a reputation throughout Ventura County for his honesty, integrity, and one-of-a-kind knowledge of automobile repair. He was widely respected not only for his skill but for his fairness and willingness to help others. Beyond his profession, Alex had a heart for service. He was a proud advocate for incarcerated youth, joining the movement Books Not Bars and volunteering for many years to mentor young men in youth correctional facilities. Through his dedication, guidance, and compassion, he made a lasting impact on countless lives, offering hope, accountability and encouragement to those who needed it most. Alex was deeply proud of and connected to his Native roots. He actively participated in sweat lodges and devoted himself to learning as much as he could about his heritage, embracing it with reverence and pride. He was preceded in death by his father, Antonio Vargas Polo. Stepson, Danny Romero; his brothers, Antonio “Tony” Polo and Martin Polo. Alex is survived by his mother, Eugenia Orta Polo, his children, Darlene Beckner and Alex Polo; his stepchildren, Stevie Romero and Bobby Romero; his sisters, Martha Polo Ortega and. Gina Polo; as well as his grandchildren, Dalana Gallegos, Jolene Arreola, Mariah Polo, Matthew Beckner, Joshua Beckner, A.J Polo, and great-grandchildren, Jade Gallegos, Christian (Chrissy) Dong, and numerous nieces and nephews. 

Alex Polo will be remembered for his wisdom, generosity, strong spirit, and unwavering commitment to helping others. His legacy lives on through the many lives he touched, both within his family and far beyond.
