Armando D. Magallon, 72, passed away peacefully at home, Monday June 30th 2025. He was born October 27th in Jamay Jalisco to Pablo and Elisa Magallon.
Mando and his family relocated from Jamay to Fillmore when he was 8yrs old. He and his family made their roots in what is now the old Rancho Sespe. Many memories were made there with his 11 siblings and many cousins.
When relocating to Fillmore, he was placed in the 4th grade not knowing a speck of English. He caught on quickly. He read the newspaper as he said this helped him to learn bigger words and build his vocabulary. Mando later attended Fillmore High School, having participated in a few sports earning his lettermans and making long time friends. He graduated in 1971 and upon graduating he attended Moorpark College. During this time Mando met his wife of 52 years, Marty.
At a young age he learned the importance of a strong work ethic. He picked in the orchards alongside his father and he worked at a restaurant some might remember as Quince Letras in Santa Paula. From here he started his career as a welder and field surveyor at Ameron Pole Products where he worked for 45 years, retiring in 2018.
During college when he met Marty, they began their life together welcoming their first child, a daughter, Katie. Mando and Marty married a year later where they began to build on their family, welcoming a son, Mando Jr. and another daughter, Michelle.
While working and raising his children, Mando had many hobbies. He enjoyed camping, fishing, beach trips, Disneyland adventures and especially gardening.
After retiring in 2018, Mando couldn’t keep still, it wasn’t in his nature. You could find him taking long walks, tinkering on projects around the house, planting his vegetables and roses, or his most prized accomplishments of being the best Papa. He was Papa to 11 grandkids. Mando enjoyed his time with his grandkids, taking them on walks to the park, showing them how to work, teaching them all of what life skills they would need. But, most importantly, loving them.
Armando is survived by his wife of 52 years Marty. His son Armando Magallon Jr., daughters Katie Magallon and Michelle Cervantes (Chris) all of Fillmore. As well as his 11 grandkids; Petey, Angel, Moses, Gabriel, Isaac, Jasiah, Maya, Nathan, Micah, Stella and Tainan.
Dad, your absence is unbearable. It’s still a shock to many that you’re gone, but what gives us peace is knowing that you are resting in God's Glory!
