Benjamin Castillo Jr. was born and raised in Kohala, Hawaii. Ben graduated from Waiakea High School then joined the U.S. Navy. He served 4 years active duty and retired from the military after another 21 years in the U.S. Navy Reserve. Ben was employed by the Department of Public Safety as an Adult Correctional Officer at Halawa for 7 years after which he worked for the Department of Homeland Security U.S. Immigration and Customs Enforcement (ICE) for 28 years. Family and friends will remember Benji for his selflessness, generosity, and endless devotion as a husband and father. Benji was a family man with a heart of gold. Though Benji was quiet and humble, his love and care for his family spoke volumes. Benji enjoyed watching football and was a big Dallas Cowboys fan. He loved listening to old school music and Christmas songs in September. Benji passed away on September 17, 2022 at the age of 56 in Los Angeles, California. He is survived by his wife, Dina, his son, Storm, and two dogs, Zeus and Thor.
Services will be held at Calvary Community Church in Westlake Village, California on Saturday, October 8th at 11am.
The family will be bringing Ben back home to the islands to his final resting place at Hawaii State Veterans Cemetery on Oahu.
