Cheryl Ann Lowry (Black) was born on December 22, 1958, in Fresno, California. She spent the last 60+ years of her life living in Santa Paula, California, where she built a home filled with love, laughter, and cherished memories. She devoted the majority of her life to raising her three daughters—Christy, Stacy, and Jennifer—instilling in them the same strength, warmth, and humor she carried every day.
Cheryl found joy in life’s simple pleasures. Whether she was relaxing in the lake or pool, casting a fishing line, tackling a DIY project, decorating her home, going overboard with Christmas presents, or hunting for treasures at yard sales, she embraced each moment with enthusiasm. But above all, her greatest joy came from spending time with the people she loved.
Her love for her four grandchildren—Jacob, Presley, Nolan, and Avery—was immeasurable. She poured her heart into every moment with them, creating memories that will live on in their hearts forever.
Cheryl’s kindness, laughter, and vibrant spirit touched everyone who knew her. She was truly loved by all and leaves behind a space that no one else can fill. To say she will be missed is an understatement—our lives are forever changed by her absence, and her memory will continue to shine in all of us.
Cheryl was preceded in death by her father Elijah “Hugh” Black, and is survived by her mother Beverly Paltenghe, children Christine Sullivan, Stacy Smith (Deacon), and Jennifer Mitchell (Adam), and grandchildren Jacob, Presley, Nolan, and Avery. She also leaves behind her sister Susan Hughey (Rickey), two brothers William Black (Nancy) and Steven Black (Sheri), numerous nieces and nephews, and countless other family and friends.
