Chuck Mattorano

May 3, 1934 — January 2, 2024

Chuck Mattorano (aka Chuck Smart) of Camarillo, CA passed away at the age of 89 on January 2, 2024, surrounded by family.  He was born on May 3, 1934, in Boulder, CO to Peter Mattorano and Jennie (Varra) Sankey.  

 

Chuck was raised in Louisville, CO and graduated from Louisville High School, Class of 1953.  Following graduation, he served as a Paratrooper in the US Army.  Chuck married Nancy, the love of his life, in May of 1990.  

 

Chuck was a Master Electrician and lifelong member of the IBEW 952.  After a 60-year career as an electrician, Chuck retired in 2013.  He was also a Realtor in Southern California for many years.  

 

Chuck enjoyed taking long walks with his wife in his Camarillo and surrounding neighborhoods.  He met many friends along the way, human and furry.  They were known as the “treat” people to all who knew them. 

 

In addition to his parents, he was predeceased by brothers Peter Smart, Jerry Smart, Harry Smart, sister Christine Mattorano and son Chuck Smart Jr.  He is survived by his loving wife Nancy, son Steve Robinson, daughters Monica (Kevin) Lewis and Pam Mattorano who reside in Colorado; four grandchildren, Zach, Casey (Jill), Jacob and Molly (Curt) and 4 great grandchildren, Xavier, Nizhoni, Cameron and Cade.   Chuck is also survived by his sisters Carol (Bill) McCarley and Marietta (Ed) Sears, and brother-in-law Leif (Shirley) Arvidson, as well as many nieces, nephews, cousins and friends.  

 

At Chuck’s request, there will be no formal services.  

 

The family would like to extend a special thanks to Los Robles Hospice for providing loving and compassionate care to Chuck over the past few months.
