Celebrating the Life of Connie Pilar Provencio

Connie Pilar Provencio, a devoted wife, loving mother, cherished grandmother and great-grandmother, beloved sister and dear friend passed away on July 26, 2026, with her children by her side. She leaves behind a lifetime of love, cherished memories, and an enduring legacy that will continue through the many lives she touched.

Connie was born on December 6, 1943, to Paul Marrufo and Carmen Garcia Marrufo. She was the third of seven children. Connie was married to Benjamin L. Provencio for 62 wonderful years. Together they raised six children: Linda, Benjamin, Theodore, Paul, Leticia, and Eugene. She was preceded in death by her beloved husband, Benjamin; her granddaughter, Faith; her daughter, Leticia; and her grandson, Eric Paul, her brother Arthur Marrufo, her sisters Janet Brizuela and Jessica Moreno.

Connie lived in Ventura County her entire life. She graduated from Santa Paula High School in 1961, married shortly afterward, and devoted herself to raising her family. In 1975 she was introduced to Head Start when her son Paul was enrolled at the Colonia Center which would became her future career and passion.

Connie graduated from Oxnard College in 1991 with an Associate’s Degree in Early Childhood Education. She was a proud “graduating grandma,” and it was an accomplishment she cherished.

For 35 years, Connie worked for Child Development Resources of Ventura County, educating and empowering families. Through her dedication and commitment to advocate for the families she served, she inspired and touched countless lives. She was a deeply loved and highly respected pillar of the CDR family and left an enduring legacy even after she retired in July 2011. She was also an active member of Santa Clara Catholic Chapel and faithfully participated in the annual Fiesta for many years.

Connie was a huge Dodgers fan and loved watching Dodger baseball. She also loved the Tour de France, which she had followed since she was young. Every year she kept a detailed log of the cyclists and their statistics from the first day of the race to the last. She loved crocheting, making blankets and quilting. One of her greatest joys was taking many trips to Disneyland with her daughter Linda. They went so often, she got herself an Annual Pass so they could go even more. She loved all the rides—including Guardians of the Galaxy—but Christmas at Disneyland was her favorite time of all, especially watching the Disney Christmas Parade.

More than anything, Connie treasured time with her family. She loved making her family delicious tamales during Christmas time. She especially loved when the older cousins, Steven and Eric, organized “Movie Night” for the younger cousins at Grandma’s house. They would watch movies, play games, make popcorn, root beer floats and Grandma would always make their favorite rice.

Connie is survived by her daughter, Linda; her sons, Benjamin, Theodore, Paul, and Eugene; 18 grandchildren; and 5 great-grandchildren. She is also survived by her sisters, Teresa Salazar, Polly Villanueva, and Carmen Lopez.

Connie will be missed immensely by her family, her friends, and all who had the privilege of knowing her. Her love, kindness, faith, and unwavering devotion to her family will remain in our hearts forever.
