Cynthia Anne (Morales) Rivera

1949-2025

Our dear sister, Cynthia, died on December 30, 2025 surrounded by family and friends.

Cynthia was born in Santa Paula, California on March 12, 1949, to the union of Ernest C Morales and Porfiria Herrera. When Cynthia was three years old, the family moved to Montalvo, California, where she grew up with her four sisters.

Cynthia graduated from Buena High School, and lived in Ventura County for most of her life before moving to Las Vegas, Nevada.

Cynthia had a sharp wit, and was known for her quick jokes and contagious laughter. She enjoyed having friends and family over for holiday parties and Boxing Fight Nights. She was a fan of mystery novels, loved dancing to Latin music, and had fun playing slot machines after she moved to Vegas. Cynthia was a knowledgeable and skillful assistant to a number of attorneys during her 30 year career as a legal secretary in California and Nevada.

Cynthia had one son, Gabriel Castor, with her first husband, Mariano. In 1981, Cynthia married her second husband, Hector Rivera, and they were together for 36 years until his death in 2017.

Cynthia was also proceeded in death by her parents, Ernie and Porfie, and her nephew, Mario Lopez.

Cynthia is survived by her son, Gabriel, and her granddaughter, Merissa Castor of Texas. Cynthia is also survived by her four sisters; Norma Morales, Martha Morales Zavala (Tom), Margaret Morales (Charles Richardson), Vivian Morales (Frank Romero), and numerous nieces and nephews.

Following the death of her husband, Hector, Cynthia chose to stay in Las Vegas until 2023. During her time in Nevada she was given care and support by the Maravilla family, a true family of faith. They cared for our sister as one of their own, and we are forever grateful.

Our beloved sister will be buried with her husband Hector at the Southern Nevada Veterans Memorial Cemetery in Boulder City, Nevada.
