Debra "Debi" Roman

It is with heavy hearts that we announce the passing of Debra Joan Roman, who died peacefully on April 5, 2025, with her loving family by her side.

Debi was born on November 24, 1955, in Schenectady, New York, to parents Julian and Julia Compositor. As a child, the Compositor family moved to Oxnard, California, the place Debi would call home for the rest of her life. There, she grew up surrounded by the love of her parents, and her siblings, Paul and Vickey, and went on to graduate from Hueneme High School in 1973. After high school Debi met the love of her life, Rick Roman. Debi and Rick married on December 17, 1977, and raised two daughters, Amy and Carly.

For Debi, motherhood was her life's work, a role she embraced with her whole heart. She was a devoted mother in every sense of the word -- always present, always giving, always putting her daughters' needs first. Amy and Carly were the light of Debi's life -- her greatest pride and her deepest joy -- and anyone who knew her could see just how much love, attention and devotion she poured into raising her girls.

To know Debi was to be cared for -- truly, genuinely and selflessly. Her compassionate nature made her the person you would go to for advice, comfort, or a listening ear. Whether it was a warm hug, meaningful conversation, or a simple act of thoughtfulness, Debi had a way of making you feel like everything was going to be okay -- and that was one of her greatest gifts.

Though her absence leaves a profound ache that words cannot express, Debi's loving spirit lives on -- in the family she adored, the kindness she embodied, and the many lives she touched.

Debi is survived by her husband of over 47 years, Rick; her daughters Amy (Brian), and Carly (Matt); her granddaughter, Magnolia; her sister Vickey (Jim), and many nieces, nephews and extended family members.
