Delfina Ortega

July 10, 1931 — September 25, 2025

Delfina Ortega, 94, of Piru, CA passed away peacefully at her home, surrounded by family, on September 25, 2025.

She was born in Piru, CA to Amanda Abalos Ortega and Ignacio Ortega on July 10, 1931. A lifelong Piru resident, she stayed very close with her siblings who all preceded her in death: Mary Rangel, Connie Ruiz, Ramona Golson, Angel Ortega, Jennie Ruiz, Henry Ortega, Joe (Guero) Ortega, Catherine (Wera) Cervantez, Victor Ortega, Lupita Ortega, and Esperanza Ortega.

Delfina was a hardworking single mother of five. Her career began picking fruits alongside her siblings in Ventura County. She subsequently began working at the Piru Citrus Packing House where she was employed until she retired. She worked hard to provide for her children and instilled that work ethic in each of them. She is survived by son Lew Teixeira, daughter Jeanette Uribe, son David Rosas (wife Martha), and daughter Michele Doucette (husband Gene). She was preceded in death by her son Sam Rosas, and son-in-law Johnny Uribe. She built a strong foundation for her children and thus created a big, beautiful family - all on her own.

Delfina made it a point to teach her kids to love and help everyone - even when you don’t have much to give. Everyone who crossed her path was met with a smile, touched by her kindness and holds fond memories of her. Her values of hard work, gratitude, and helping others continue to be passed down to her 13 grandchildren, 21 great grandchildren, 7 great-great grandchildren, and dozens of extended family members.

Delfina was happy and smiling until the end. The family would like to thank her caregivers who took amazing care of her, Juana Guzman and Xochilt Becerra.

Delfina will be remembered by her unconditional love and care for others. She taught us all the importance of family and that life is not about money or material possessions - it’s about the love you give and compassion you hold for those around you.
