Diane Avila

August 4, 1964 — October 24, 2023

Diane Reyes Avila lost her battle with cancer on October 24, 2023, surrounded by her husband, children, and family.

She was born and raised in Oxnard, CA, and married to her high school sweetheart of 42 years. She loved her Dodgers and Raiders, playing softball, going to Chumash, playing bingo and her scratchers, and dragging Ronald on her Laughlin trips.

In her early years, she loved cruising down Saviers Rd with Ronald and her sisters, listening to oldies, and always sticking up for her siblings. She played softball in high school, and her love for the sport transcended into adulthood.

Diane was not afraid to tell you what was on her mind, good or bad, but this is why everyone gravitated towards her. She was selfless and always willing to lend a hand or ear to anyone who needed it. She was an incredible woman with a heart of gold, and we know this by the love so many had for her and how they spoke so lovingly about her.

Her softball family knew her as “Momz,” and this is where her extended family would grow with numerous adopted sons, daughters, grandchildren, and godchildren, and her infamous “middle finger.”

Diane is survived by her husband, Ronald Avila, and children Irene Diane Rosales (Daniel), Ilene Genesa Avila, and Natalie Dominique Avila. Her mother, Irene Reyes; her siblings Corinne Lopez, Libby Tellez (Vince), Donald Reyes Sr. (Maria), Roberta Zuniga, and Robert Reyes and her Savannah.
Diane is preceded by her father, Andy Reyes; sister, Stella Lopez; brothers, Benji and Sam Reyes Sr.; and nephews, Sammy Reyes, Ruben Torres, and Donald Reyes Jr.

Celebration of Life services will be held at noonat the Perez Family Funeral Home, 1347 Del Norte Rd. Camarillo, CA 93010. One of her requests was to wear your Dodger gear and chucks.

We want to honor Diane with her “last cruise” down Saviers Rd. Friday night, November 10th, at 6:30 p.m., meeting next to the Ralphs Shopping Center.
