Donald Reeder

Donald William Reeder passed away at home surrounded by his family, on September 7, 2023. Don was a devoted Husband, Father, Brother, Uncle, Grandfather and Friend to many. He will always be remembered as a man with compassion and integrity.

Don was born on May 22, 1942, and raised in Ventura, California. He attended Villanova Preparatory School and graduated in 1960. He continued his education attending Ventura College and later transferred to Cal Poly San Luis Obispo where he finished his degree in Agriculture in 1966. After graduating, Don married Bonnie Reeder, his loving and devoted wife of 42 years.

He later joined the United States Navy, where he served in Vietnam; he was honorably discharged in 1969. After his service in the U.S. Military, Don came home and was hired on with Coastal Pipco. In 1971, he left to pursue his passion for agriculture as a farm manager and local grower by starting his own business, Reeder Farm Management, where he began tending to many ranches, including one that is now known as Gill-Reeder-Ladd. In 1980, Don transitioned out of Reeder Farm Management and began working for Pro-Ag, later known as Somis Pacific, for the next 28 years. In the field of agriculture, Don received many accolades such as President of the Farm Bureau and President of the California Avocado Commission. He also served as a Board Member for the Metropolitan Water District and several Lemon and Avocado Packinghouses.

Don was proceeded in death by his wife Bonnie Reeder, Mother Margaret and Father Don Reeder, Brother's Warren and Mike (Speedy) Reeder, Sister In-Law Pattie Cooke, and Brother In-Law's Bob Cooke and Jim Woodstock.

Don is survived by his two children: Daughter Audra Lahey and Son Keith Reeder, and their respective spouses, Kevin Lahey and Michele Reeder. Grandchildren: Daniel and his wife Jenifer, Travis, Corey, Cierra and Logan. Brother Patrick Reeder and his wife Susana and Sister In-Law Beverly Reeder. Nieces and Nephews: Stephanie Beattie, Matt Reeder, Kim Hughes, Jenny Golden, Michael Reeder, Jimmy Woodstock, Jacob Woodstock, Josh Woodstock, Sean Reeder, and Christian Reeder and his wife Lydia.

Dons Celebration of Life Mass will be held Wednesday, September 20, 2023, 10:00 Am. at Our Lady of the Assumption Church. In lieu of flowers, the family suggests donations be made to either: Oxnard Historic Farm Park or Museum of Ventura County.
