Edgar, 86, passed away 8/31/23.
He was born 4/22/1937 in San Salvador, El Salvador to Purificación Santos and Rogelia Santos.

He married Maria Cuevas, 3/4/1991 in Los Angeles, CA.  They lived in different cities of Ventura County, ultimately raising their two children Edgar and Ruth in Santa Paula, CA.

He worked as a bulldozer operator thoughout his time in Ventura County with his last company being Grimes Rock, Inc. He can be remembered for wearing a yellow CAT hat and driving his Navy, 1982 Ford Club Van. He was the definition of a hardworker. 

He loved livestock, cows being one of his favorites. He always had hopes of living on a farm again and being surronded by animals. He enjoyed going on daily walks around Santa Paula. Gardening was a passion of his; he took pride in his herbs, roses, and guava tree. He had a green thumb and swore by the moon cycles for his garden's success. He also had the family Cat, Chicle "help" him dig holes every now and then. He enjoyed having Chamomile Tea daily with almond cookies or bread -lemon loaf was one of his favorites.

He enjoyed watching AFV, Animal Planet, National Geographic and the news. He would read the newspaper daily and would sit outside with the Chicle watching the neighborhood. He and Chicle were napping partners and would often be found sleeping together.

He is survived by his wife of 40 years Maria Benitez; sons, Edgar C. Benitez and Edgar "Nelo" Benitez Pineda; daughters, Ruth Benitez (Martin) and Roxana Pineda; and three granddaughters.

He is preceded in death by his parents, Purificación Santos and Rogelia Benitez.

He will be greatly missed.

Edgar, de 86 años, falleció el 31/08/23. Nació el 22/4/1937 en San Salvador, El Salvador, hijo de Purificación Santos y Rogelia Benitez.

Se casó con Maria Cuevas, el 4/3/1991 en Los Angeles, CA. Vivían en diferentes ciudades del condado de Ventura y finalmente criaron a sus dos hijos, Edgar y Ruth, en Santa Paula, CA.

Trabajó como operador de excavadora durante su estancia en el condado de Ventura y su última empresa fue Grimes Rock, Inc. Se le puede recordar por llevar una gorra CAT amarilla y conducir su camioneta Ford. Era la definición de un gran trabajador.

Amaba el ganado, siendo las vacas una de sus favoritas. Siempre tuvo la esperanza de volver a vivir en un rancho y estar rodeado de animales. Le gustaba caminar diario por Santa Paula. La jardinería era una de sus pasiones; era orgulloso de sus hierbas, rosas y su árbol de guayaba. Tenía talento para la jardinería y confiaba en los ciclos lunares para el éxito de su jardín. También el gato de la familia, Chicle lo "ayudaba" a escarbar hoyos de vez en cuando. Le gustaba tomar té de manzanilla todos los días con galletas de almendras o pan; el pan de limón era una de sus favoritos.

Le gustaba ver AFV, Animal Planet, National Geographic y las noticias. Leía el periódico todos los días y se sentaba afuera con el Chicle observando el vecindario. Él y Chicle eran compañeros de siesta y a menudo se los encontraba durmiendo juntos.

Le sobreviven su esposa durante 40 años Maria Cuevas; hijos, Edgar Benitez y Edgar "Nelo" Benitez Pineda; hijas, Ruth Benitez (Martin) y Roxana Pineda; y tres nietas.

Le precedieron en la muerte sus padres, Purificación Santos y Rogelia Benitez.

Lo extrañaremos mucho.
