Elia Escobar

d. January 15, 2021

On January 15, 2021 Elia Reyes Escobar of Port Hueneme, CA passed away at the age of 88. She was born in Ventura, CA and was a lifelong resident of Ventura County. She graduated from Oxnard High School in 1952. After High school she worked several jobs until meeting her husband, Lucas. They were married 1958 and had two sons David and Angel. Elia was involved in every one of her sons activities from little league to High School Band Boosters. As a family they traveled often to visit family, enjoyed camping and going to the lake. Their doors were always open and often had different family members stay with them. As the oldest of eight children, Elia loved getting the family together and was known for throwing huge back yard parties. She enjoyed hand crafting gifts for all of her family and friends and never missed a birthday, milestone, or holiday. Elia enjoyed getting together with the “Bonita Girls”. She loved the Los Angeles Dodgers and was thrilled they won the 2020 Championship. Elia was proud to have over 30 Godchildren and stayed in touch with them throughout their lives. Her true calling was being a Grandmother and she loved spending time with her Prince Charming Christian, Precious Nicky, Princess Audrae and Precious Matt. Elia took in Audrae at a young age and just as she did with her own children she was very involved in her activities from hand sewing sequins on pageant dresses to being a room mother. She was blessed with 8 great grandchildren and loved spending every minute she could with them. Elia was never one to meet a stranger. Her smile, big heart and thoughtfulness will be missed. She was preceded in death by her parents Lupe and Ramona Reyes, brother Rudy Reyes and sister Hilda “Rickie” Porras. Elia is survived by her children: David Escobar (wife Diana) and Angel Escobar. Her grandchildren: Christian Escobar, Nick Escobar (wife Heather), Matt Escobar (wife Ashley) and Audrae Escobar (partner Anthony). Her great grandchildren: Adyson, Nathaniel, Wyatt, Layla, Tatum, Titus, Teagan, and Braelyn. Her sisters Irene Raucho of Pico Rivera, CA, Eva Tucker (husband Don) of Phoenix, AZ, Ofelia Cabral of Oxnard, Helen Gonzales (husband Manuel) of Oxnard, brother Gilbert Reyes (wife Carol) of La Mirada, CA. and countless nieces and nephews. Family and friends are invited to visit her at her final resting place at Santa Clara Cemetery. The family will hold a Celebration of Life at a later date. In lieu of flowers Elia would want you to express your love to those you value.
