Esperanza Zaragoza De Mejia

Esperanza Mejía nació el 1 de octubre de 1952 en Briseñas, Michoacán. Fue la tercera hija de Francisca Zaragoza y José Ponce, y precedida en muerte por sus hermanos María Zaragoza de Sainz y Juan Zaragoza. Le sobreviven su amado esposo, Enrique Mejía, y sus hijos: Juan Alberto Mejía, Luis Fernando Mejía, Lilia Angélica Martínez, Sandra Esperanza Guerrero, Georgina Ramírez, Enrique Mejía y Yolanda Mejía Elías. También le sobreviven sus hermanos Socorro Zaragoza, Jesús Zaragoza, Ramón Zaragoza, Víctor Zaragoza y María del Refugio Zaragoza.

Esperanza fue una mujer católica devota, una hija amorosa, esposa, madre y amiga. A la edad de 20 años conoció a su esposo, Enrique, y fue amor a primera vista. Después de solo tres meses de noviazgo, se comprometieron y se casaron el 15 de abril de 1972. Tres meses después de su boda, Enrique emigró a los Estados Unidos para poder mantener a su familia. Con esfuerzo y determinación, lograron cumplir su sueño de comprar una casa en Briseñas, Michoacán, en diciembre de 1973. En octubre de ese mismo año dieron la bienvenida a su primer hijo, y con el paso del tiempo formaron una hermosa familia, bendecida con tres hijos y cuatro hijas.

Esperanza fue una esposa fiel y una madre dedicada que crió con amor a sus hijos mientras su esposo perseguía el sueño americano a través del Programa Bracero. Mantuvo un hogar organizado y agradable, inculcando en sus hijos los valores de la fe católica. Administró con esmero las finanzas familiares y se aseguró de aprovechar cada dólar que su esposo ganaba con tanto esfuerzo. Esperanza brindó fortaleza emocional y espiritual a sus hijos mientras su esposo trabajaba incansablemente para sacar adelante a su familia.

En 1995, Esperanza, Enrique y sus hijos emigraron a los Estados Unidos, reuniéndose con alegría como familia en Piru, California. Más tarde vivieron en Rancho Sespe y finalmente se establecieron en Fillmore en el año 2000. A lo largo de su vida, Esperanza desempeñó muchos roles: primero como madre abnegada, luego como trabajadora dedicada en el área de limpieza y en fabricación, y finalmente como una abuela amorosa y cariñosa.

Su fe católica guió cada aspecto de su vida. Rezaba el rosario todas las noches, elevando oraciones por los enfermos, por sus hijos, por los sacerdotes y por todas las personas que necesitaban trabajo. Su profunda fe, su espíritu amoroso y su inquebrantable devoción a su familia continuarán inspirando a todos los que tuvieron el privilegio de conocerla.

Esperanza Mejía was born on October 1, 1952, in Briseñas, Michoacán. She was the third daughter of Francisca Zaragoza and José Ponce, and was preceded in death by her siblings María Zaragoza de Sainz and Juan Zaragoza. She is survived by her beloved husband, Enrique Mejía, and her children: Juan Alberto Mejía, Luis Fernando Mejía, Lilia Angélica Martínez, Sandra Esperanza Guerrero, Georgina Ramírez, Enrique Mejía, and Yolanda Mejía Elías. She is also survived by her siblings Socorro Zaragoza, Jesús Zaragoza, Ramón Zaragoza, Víctor Zaragoza, and María del Refugio Zaragoza.

Esperanza was a devoted Catholic, a loving daughter, wife, mother, and friend. At the age of 20, she met her husband, Enrique, and it was love at first sight. After only three months of dating, they became engaged and were married on April 15, 1972. Just three months after their wedding, Enrique immigrated to the United States to provide for his family. Through hard work and determination, they achieved their dream of buying a home in Briseñas, Michoacán, in December 1973. They welcomed their first child in October of 1973 and continued to grow their family, eventually blessed with three sons and four daughters.

Esperanza was a faithful wife and a dedicated mother who lovingly raised her children while her husband pursued the American dream through the Bracero Program. She maintained an organized and welcoming home, instilling in her children values of the Catholic faith. She managed the family finances with care and ensured every dollar her husband earned was used wisely. Esperanza provided emotional and spiritual strength for her children while their father worked tirelessly to support the family.

In 1995, Esperanza, Enrique, and their children immigrated to the United States, joyfully reuniting as a family in Piru, California. They later lived in Rancho Sespe before settling in Fillmore in 2000. Throughout her life, Esperanza fulfilled many roles — first as a devoted mother, then as a hardworking member of the janitorial and factory workforce, and ultimately as a cherished and nurturing grandmother.

Her Catholic faith guided every aspect of her life. She prayed the rosary every night, lifting prayers for the sick, for her children, for priests, and for those in need of work. Her deep faith, loving spirit, and unwavering devotion to her family will continue to inspire all who knew her.
