G. Javier Herrera Diaz

G. Javier Herrera Diaz, born on December 16, 1960, in Durango, Mexico, passed away on August 15, 2024. He immigrated to America as a teenager and achieved his proudest accomplishment in 2022 when he became a U.S. citizen.

Javier met his wife, Belinda, at Moorpark High School, and together they had two sons, Javier and Daniel. Though their marriage ended, they remained close friends and co-parents.

A lifelong concrete laborer, Javier took pride in his work, even as it wore on his body. He found joy in playing the accordion and caring for stray cats and dogs. In his later years, he returned to Durango, where he embraced a simpler life, finding peace through attending mass every Sunday.

Javier is survived by his sons, Javier and Daniel, and his former wife, Belinda.
