Guadalupe Basquez

d. December 18, 2020

Guadalupe Marie Basquez Lupe passed away at home with her twin sister Jessie and Lou Nieto by her side on December 18, 2020, from her long battle with breast cancer. She was born on December 27, 1949, in Oxnard at Saint John's hospital to Amado Diaz and Francis Aguirre. She grew up in the small town of Moorpark, in the neighborhood of the Colonia, where everyone knew everyone. She grew up with her siblings Jessie, Emilio, Steve, Frank, Eric, Veronica, Albert, Ronald, and Rosalie. There was always something to do in the Colonia with a big family. She grew up picking apricots and prunes in San Jose to picking tomatoes and walnuts in Somis. Lupe was a beloved mother of four: Christina (Paul), Ernest (Kristie), Amado, and Rachel (William). She was a grandmother of 15 and a great-grandmother of 11. Lupe loved being a mother and a grandmother. She loved to decorate her house around the holidays because she knew family and friends would be coming over for a visit. Of course, she would make sure she had plenty of her famous tamales and salsa waiting for them as they arrived. Lupe loved to cook, crochet, dance, go to the casino, shop, and watch Family Feud. Many nights we would sit and watch Family Feud, and we would laugh till our sides hurt. Oh, when she would dance… She danced like there was no tomorrow. Always put a smile on our face. Lupe always knew how to make you feel welcomed in her home. She always made sure you had what you needed, and you had plenty to eat. Lupe was known for being loving and supportive, and most of all, funny. She would try to tell you a story, and before the story was over, she would be laughing so hard that you started to laugh just because she was laughing. You never were really able to finish the story before your belly started to hurt. As Lupe's strong faith with God grew over the years, it became clear that she had more courage, strength, and understanding of what God's plans were for her. Till the day she passed, she would say, "It's okay, God is in control, and I am going to be okay." She read her daily scriptures and prayed daily with her husband Marvin, and were very devoted to their faith. Lupe loved God so much. She would always say, "God is good!" Lupe was preceded in death by her husband Marvin pace, her mother Frances Dominguez, her father Amado Diaz, her granddaughter Angel wright, her brother Albert and Steve Ramirez, and many family members. She will be missed dearly and will forever be in our hearts. Remember mom: "I love you more today than I did yesterday."
