In loving memory of Joe “ Pepe” Jaramillo
November 20, 1956 - June 12, 2026
Joe was born in Guadalajara, Jalisco on November 20, 1956 and immigrated with his parents
and siblings to the United States when he was five years old. He grew up in Oxnard and
resided throughout Ventura County. He belonged to IUOE Local 12 and worked as a Heavy
Equipment Operator for 40 years.
He was a warrior through his battle with the illness that took him on June 12, 2026. He was
surrounded by his loved ones as he took his last breath. Joe is survived by his partner Mary
and granddaughter Lexi, his sons Joseph and Johnny, his mother Emma and his siblings
Gricelda Villanueva (Gary), AnneMarie and Carmen. He is preceded by his father Gabino.
He was a good man, a good dad, a good brother and an awesome son who stood by his
convictions. He gave his life to the Lord. He was involved with Teen Challenge and prison
ministries. He would go down to the homeless camps and take them care packages and pray
with them. Prayer was part of Joe’s daily rituals. Joe made friends instantly with people he met
along his path. His greatest desire was to once again ride his Harley and feel the freedom of
the open road. He missed being able to hang out with friends.
Those who knew Joe remember his unwavering work ethic, his faith in the Lord, his sense of
humor, his generous heart, his love for music and dancing, and his dedication to making his
community a better place. His impact cannot be measured solely by years of involvement in
community events, but by countless acts of kindness and service he provided throughout his
life.
We mourn his passing, we celebrate a life well lived - devoted to service, friendship and
community.
“ A life measured not by the years we live, but by the lives we touch.”
With gratitude and remembrance to Joe
