JOSE REYES BECERRA Our beloved father passed away at home Sunday, Feb. 24, 2013, surrounded by family and friends. He was born Jan. 6, 1920, in Jalisco, Mexico, to Julio and Maria Santos Becerra. Married to Maria Martin in 1942 in Pegueros, Mexico. Our father had a strong work ethic and never missed a day of work in the 35 years as a farm hand. Through his hard work he was able to bring his family over from Mexico in 1961, with the sponsorship of Mr. George Steelman. He worked at Berylwood Investment Co., Ag Land Services, Paramount Citrus and Grether Farming Co. Some of his favorite past times included spending time with family and making our home a festive place for gatherings. He also loved dancing, mariachi music, violin playing, poker, barefoot sprint racing, and barbecuing. He was a great family provider and planted the majority of the food we ate: corn, squash, other vegetables and fruit. He tended to all of the ranch animals with great care. Thanks to his teachings, we have a strong work ethic, understand the importance of family and are connected to our roots. We are deeply thankful for the care provided to him in his final years by our siblings, Carmen, Hector and Robert. He is survived by 13 children; 35 grandkids; 29 great-grandkids; three great-great grandkids; and preceded in death by his wife, Maria Becerra, and son, Jorgito. We will miss him dearly. Memorial services will be provided by Perez Funeral Home, Camarillo, Calif. A vigil will be held on Monday, March 4, 2013, at the Perez Family Funeral Home Chapel located on 1347 Del Norte Road, Camarillo, Calif. 93010 from 5 to 9 p.m. Funeral mass will be held on Tuesday, March 5, 2013, at St. Mary Magdalen Chapel located on 2532 Ventura Blvd., Camarillo, Calif. 93010 at 10 a.m. Burial will follow at Conejo Mountain Memorial Park.
