Joseph Robert Capute, 85 yrs, passed away November 9, 2023, at home surrounded by his family. Joseph was born June 18, 1938 in Patton, PA, a small mining town. His parents were Jospeh L and Irma (Eufusia). His mother passed away when he was six, leaving behind Joesph and an older sister, Virginia. His father remarried Jane (Reed), who gave birth to Joesph’s younger half-brother Robert.
Joseph grew up in Altoona, PA, married Barbara Jean Marlett in 1956 and they had 5 daughters. He joined the Navy in 1956, spanning a 28 year career. During that time he traveled the world and moved through the ranks from E1 enlisted to a retired Commander. He was a Navigator/Pilot and pioneer of the EA6B Prowler Jet Program. After retiring from the Navy, he went on to 10 more years work on the EA6B program with Gruman and the space program with PRB.
He married Gloria Lopez Corona, in 1983 and welcomed two stepdaughters into the family.
He is predeceased by his parents, siblings and oldest daughter Toni Ann. He is survived by his wife Gloria, daughters; Teresa L Flores (Pablo Flores), Cheryl J Schneider, Karen M Noel (Chad Noel), Cindy L Capute, step-daughters Catherine Alspaugh (Tom Alspaugh), Linda McLard (James McLard). In Addition, he is survived by 3 nephews, 12 grandchildren, 19 great grandchildren and 1 great-great grandchild.
Memorial Services will be held November 20 th , 2023 at 10:30am, Perez Family Funeral Home, 3150 Loma Vista Road, Ventura, CA., with grave side services following at Ivy Lawn Cemetery at 2:00pm in Ventura, CA.
