Josephina E. Salazar

On Friday July 19, 2013, our beloved “Supermom Josie” passed away after a short but courageous battle with cancer. Born April 3, 1948 to Ramona and Jose Pinon. She lived her entire life in Oxnard, California. In 1970, she married Joel Salazar and they recently celebrated their 43rd anniversary. She had two children to whom she loved very dearly. Then after many years decided to go to work at OUHSD as a Food Service worker at Oxnard High where she stayed for 24 years. She loved going to work and interacting with the kids and co-workers. She loved watching novelas, music, dancing, a good party, and of course, her “Vitamin B.” But her true love was spending time with her grandchildren to which she adored so much. Josie is survived by her husband Joel Salazar, children Tina Cerda (Alex), Alex Salazar (Ruth), grandchildren Andres Cerda, Emily and Jessica Salazar, brother Gilbert Pinon, god children, nieces and nephews and many extended family and friends. She was proceeded in death by her parents Ramona and Jose Pinon. We would like to thank all her doctors and St. John’s Hospital for taking wonderful care of our beautiful mother. A vigil for Josephina Salazar will be held on Monday, July 29th from 5-9pm located at the Perez Family Funeral Home Chapel. A Prayer service will begin at 7pm. Mass will be celebrated on Tuesday, July 30th at 10am located at the Santa Clara Parish Oxnard. Burial will follow at Santa Clara Cemetery in Oxnard.
