Never has there been a more perfect name for someone who touched so many lives. Joy Carolyn Seneres Pumar, 53, of Camarillo, CA, passed away on September 28, 2026.
April 10, 1973 was the day this very special soul came into the world in Pasig, Metro Manila, Philippines. She grew up in Pasig, and when she was 14, her family moved to the U.S. and found a new home in San Francisco, CA where Joy was able to access, in her own words, a “better education.” Living out her dream of higher education, Joy became a Registered Nurse and later earned her Master’s degree in Nursing Education.
Joy personified every amazing quality of a dedicated nurse. A real-life superhero, Joy had deep empathy for her patients and advocated constantly for them. She had sharp critical thinking skills, unmatched versatility, and most critically…a calm and caring demeanor in times of emergency or crisis. She spent her entire adult life caring for people who needed her help and it was all in a day’s work for her. Additionally, Joy used her healthcare expertise and combined it with a passion to empower young minds by writing three children’s books that promoted hygiene and celebrated individuality.
Joy had a way of seizing the day. Anything was possible when you were with her. Joy’s love of life and spontaneity were truly unmatched. If you were to talk to any of her many friends, they could tell you stories of fun, laughter, silliness, and “joy” that will be cherished for years to come. Her beloved Goldendoodle, Champ, was the apple of her eye. He was her very best friend and loyal companion. Champ brought so much love and light into her life, and she gave it right back to him.
“I always believe in paying it forward and leaving a legacy that will make a lasting impact in this world. I would like to leave this world better than it was, especially for the youth of this world.” - Joy Pumar
A Celebration of Life for Joy will be held on Sunday, November 1st from 2pm - 7pm at 3300 Golden Pond Drive, Camarillo, CA 93012.
Additionally, a viewing will take place the day after on Monday, November 2nd from 4pm - 8pm at Perez Family Funeral Home located at 1347 Del Norte Road, Camarillo, CA 93010.
