Laura Drehsen

October 29, 1987 — January 23, 2023

Laura Michelle Drehsen, age 35, passed away unexpectedly on January 23, 2023, due to complications of meningitis.

Laura was born in San Luis Obispo, California on October 29, 1987 to adoring parents Nancy and Jack Wauchope. She was her parents' only daughter and one of five children. Growing up, Laura excelled at dance. She was a company dancer with the Civic Ballet of San Luis Obispo and a member of San Luis Jazz. She did all of this while also being a great student, looked up to by many as a role model. She graduated from Mission College Preparatory Catholic High School in 2006 and went on to earn her bachelor's degree in psychology with a minor in child development from Cal Poly, San Luis Obispo. She was then hired as an Executive Team Leader of Guest Experience with Target, where she met her future husband Richard in 2011. She later worked for Farmers Insurance, and was most recently the HR Manager for National Veterinary Associates.

Laura and Richard married in 2014, and later welcomed their children, Gunnar (age 5) and Hope (age 3). Above all else, Laura's greatest joy and highest priority was being a warm and loving mother to her son and daughter. Laura delighted in being a member of a large, tight-knit family and cherished time spent with friends and family alike. She was thoughtful, kind, and supportive. The outpouring of support following Laura's passing is indicative of just how many people valued their relationship with her.

Laura was predeceased by her grandparents, Anthony Pazzulla, Clyde and Irene Wauchope, and her uncles Anthony Steven Pazzulla, Michael Anthony Pazzulla I, Lawrence Wauchope and Donald Wauchope. She is survived by her husband, Richard Drehsen, and their children, Gunnar and Hope. Additionally, she is survived by her grandmother, Joan Pazzulla, her parents, Jack and Nancy Wauchope, and brothers Matthew (Jenise), Kevin (Galina), David (Edna), and Andrew (Elise). She also leaves behind Richard's parents, Charlie and Jan Drehsen, and brothers and sisters-in-law Dannette (Curtis), Charlie (Alicia), Karl (Marie), Edward (Brooke), Laura (Rich), Anna (Danny), and Rebecca. Laura will be forever missed by her nieces and nephews: Kaylie, Olivia, Chloe, Lily, Gavin, Owen, Anthony, James, Audrey and Linden. Her aunts and uncle, Michelle (Tom) Evanson, Teri Pazzulla and Kathleen Wauchope as well as many cousins and extended family will deeply miss her.

A celebration of Laura's life will be held on February 25 at 11:00AM at Camarillo Community Church. Interment will be private.
