We are sad to announce the passing of Manuel R. Hernandez JR of Ventura CA. Manuel passed away on Thursday August 10, 2023, at home surrounded by his family. Born in Ventura California to Manuel M Hernandez and Lilia R Hernandez on November 10,1948. He is Survived by his lovely wife of 51 years Noelia Z Hernandez and their four children son James M Hernandez, Daughter Monica H Bennett, daughter Noelia H Ayala and daughter Rachel A Hernandez, ten grandchildren, one great grandchild, and older sister Isidra H Sullivan. Manuel was Proceeded in death by both his parents and younger sister Ofelia H Narron.
Manuel went to high school at Buena in Ventura. He then attended college at Ventura college and UCLA. Manuel worked as a welder and co-owner of a welding business (ALDEZ) with partner James Alderson for twenty years while also being an educator at Ventura and Oxnard college for forty years.
In 2018 he wrote a book called “World War II Soldier with Two lives”. This book was to share some of his life experiences and his father’s experience in the service. Manuel wanted people to never forget where they came from. He quoted “My book is intended to remind adults of their engaging past and of who they once were.”
Manuel’s priority was his family who he loved very much. He was very passionate about educating others and enjoyed gardening. Manuel’s favorite place was his backyard where he would enjoy the sounds of his chickens and the view of his garden.
Manuel has earned his angel wings and is in the arms of the lord. He is loved so much by his family and will be deeply missed.
Service will be held at Perez Family Funeral home 3150 Loma vista Road Ventura, CA 93003 On September 1, 2023, at 1:00pm following a reception at the home of his daughter Rachel.
