Maria Luisa Torres de Ceja, 88, a longtime resident of Camarillo, passed away, Tuesday, November 2, 2021 surrounded by her loving family. Luisa was born March 11, 1933 in Moreno De Valencia, Michoacán, México to Antonio Torres and Maria Refugio Casares. On November 9, 1953 she married the love of her life, Adolfo Ceja and together they raised four sons and three daughters and settled in the city of Camarillo. Luisa was a kind and generous woman who adored her family and friends. She was an amazing and doting wife, mother, grandmother, and great-grandmother who never missed an opportunity to show her loved ones affection. She had beautiful green eyes that would light up when she’d greet you and a sweet, child-like laugh that was so endearing. She treasured the time she spent with her family and loved to make sure everyone had plenty to eat. She was a great cook who made delicious tortillas which she served with butter. She would also make the best Morisqueta; a traditional dish from her home state which she always cooked to perfection. She also enjoyed listening to music while she cooked and loved to dance. Luisa had a wonderful sense of style and always loved to dress to the nines. She liked to make jewelry and was a talented seamstress who made beautiful dresses that were timeless and elegant. She was also a great knitter and taught her daughters how to knit doilies. She cherished the time she spent with her daughters and enjoyed their shopping outings and conversations. She loved nature and enjoyed going for walks at the beach. She loved birds and owned a few parakeets. She also enjoyed gardening and became very good at it. She grew milkweed in her backyard for the Monarch Butterflies and enjoyed showing her family the different phases of the metamorphosis. Luisa taught herself to read and write and often practiced her penmanship because she wanted to perfect it. She was a masterful storyteller who loved to share stories about her childhood and her hometown. Luisa was the heart of her family and the star in their eyes. She was a wonderful woman with so many beautiful qualities and she will be missed by her family and everyone who was lucky to know her. Luisa is survived by her sons Octavio (Terri), Frank “Paco” (Lorie), Martha, Rosa (Arturo), Elva (Jose Luis), Adolfo, Jr. (Soyla), and Jose “Juvi” (Kristina), 19 grandchildren, 17 great-grandchildren, and numerous cousins, nieces, and nephews. Luisa was preceded in death by her husband of 65 years, Adolfo Ceja. A visitation for Luisa will be held on Sunday, November 21st, from 2:00 pm to 8:00 pm at Perez Family Funeral Home, 1347 Del Norte Rd., Camarillo, CA 93010. The Rosary will begin at 5:00 p.m. Mass will be celebrated on Monday, November 22nd, at St. Mary Magdalen Church, 25 N. Las Posas Rd., Camarillo, CA 93010 at 10:00 a.m. Burial will follow at Conejo Mountain Cemetery located at 2052 Howard Road in Camarillo. Luisa nació el 11 de marzo de 1933 en Moreno de Valencia, Michoacán, México. Hija de Antonio Torres y María Refugio Casares. El 9 de noviembre de 1953 se casó con el amor de su vida, Adolfo Ceja y juntos criaron cuatro hijos y tres hijas en la ciudad de Camarillo. Luisa era una mujer amable y generosa que adoraba a su familia y amigos. Fue una esposa, madre, abuela y bisabuela increíble y cariñosa que siempre mostraba afecto a sus seres queridos. Tenía ojos hermosos que se iluminaban cuando saludaba y una dulce risa entrañable. Ella adoraba el tiempo que pasaba con su familia y le encantaba asegurarse de que todos tuvieran suficiente para comer. Le encantaba cocinar y preparaba las mejores tortillas. Fue una gran cocinera y preparaba la mejor morisqueta; un platillo tradicional de su estado natal que cocinaba siempre a la perfección. También disfrutaba de escuchar música mientras cocinaba y le gustaba bailar. Luisa tenía un sentido de estilo incomparable. Le encantaba hacer joyas y era una costurera talentosa que hacía hermosos y elegantes vestidos. También era una gran tejedora y enseñó a sus hijas a tejer servilletas. Apreciaba el tiempo que pasaba con sus hijas y disfrutaba de sus salidas de compras y sus conversaciones. Amaba la naturaleza y disfrutaba pasear por la playa. Le encantaban los pájaros y también le gustaba la jardinería. Cultivaba algodoncillo en su patio para las Mariposas Monarca y disfrutaba mostrarle a su familia las diferentes fases de la metamorfosis. Luisa no tuvo la oportunidad de ir a la escuela y, sin embargo, ella misma aprendió a leer y escribir. A menudo practicaba escribir porque quería perfeccionarlo. También le encantaba compartir historias de su infancia y era muy buena narradora. Luisa era el corazón de su familia y la estrella de sus ojos. Luisa fue precedida en la muerte por su esposo, Adolfo Ceja. El domingo, 21 de noviembre se recibirán condolencias a partir de las 2:00 pm a 8:00 pm en Perez Family Funeral Home, 1347 Del Norte Road, Camarillo, CA 93010. El Rosario comenzará a las 5:00 pm. La misa se celebrará el lunes, 22 de noviembre en la Iglesia St. Mary Magdalen, 25 N.
