Mary Garcia

d. April 12, 2007

The Lord called our mother, Mary Garcia, home on April 12, 2007. Mom took her last breath with her family at her side. She now watches over us from his heavenly kingdom. Mary Falcon was born in Corpus Christi, Texas, on March 5, 1928. After high school, she met the love of her life, Hipolito "Polo" Garcia, whom she married in December 1946. Together, they embarked on a journey full of love and happiness and with the Lord's blessing raised their 12 children. The family moved to Moorpark in 1966. Mary and Polo celebrated their 60th wedding anniversary last December with their family and friends. Mary had a very charismatic personality and a charm that drew people to her. She always had a hug for you and her laugh brought joy to everyone around her. Mary had a strong desire to serve the Lord and her family. She volunteered time in her children's classrooms and was a member of Las Guadalupanas, a ladies' group at Holy Cross Catholic Church. Mary was also a loving baby sitter to many children throughout the years, becoming an adopted grandmother to each of them. She enjoyed playing bingo, hosting tea parties for friends and neighbors, and enjoyed spending time with her grandchildren. Her greatest passions in life were her family and helping others. Mary was preceded in death by her son Petty Officer 1st Class Arnold F. Garcia, who died in Vietnam in July 1969. She is survived by her loving husband, Hipolito "Polo" Garcia; son Paul and Norma Garcia of Reno, Nev.; daughter Minnie and husband Joe Gonzalez; sons Joe Garcia of Wichita Falls, Texas, and Jorge and wife Linda Garcia of Bakersfield; daughters Sandra and husband Gary Cabriales and Marie Garcia; sons Robert and wife Irma Garcia of Sacramento, Jay Garcia, Danny Garcia, Albert and wife Juanita Garcia, and Ronnie and wife Darlene Garcia; 25 grandchildren; and five great-grandchildren. The family would like to give special thanks to the staff of Thousand Oaks Health Care, Dr. David Miller and Dr. Joseph Romolo. Our mother lived her life with love, strength, patience, friendship, perseverance, hope and above all, faith. Thank you, Mommy Angel, for your endless love. We know you are now laughing, dancing and looking after us. You will remain in our hearts and minds forever. "They that wait upon the Lord shall renew their strength, they shall mount up with wings as eagles, they shall run, and not be weary, and they shall walk, and not faint." — Isaiah 40:31 Assisting the family with arrangements is the family-owned and -operated Rose Perez Funeral Home and Cremation, phone 805-484-6365; our families putting your family first.
