Philip Salinas Garcia

d. January 21, 2018

As dawn rose on the morning of Sunday January 21, 2018 Philip S. Garcia, known to everyone as Perry, drew his last breath surrounded by his family and joined his most beloved wife Flora in heaven. Having lost her on 12/31/2016, it has been a long year for Perry without her. As much as his recent health issues had become a challenge, it was mostly his broken heart that couldn’t bear to be without her even one more day. Perry was born on 11/12/1934 in Houston, TX and came to California as a teenager. He and his family settled in the Saticoy area and he became a student at Ventura High School. He graduated with the class of 1954 and it was here that he met his girl, Flora. They began dating and were married in 1958 and began a love affair that lasted more than 60 years until Flora’s homegoing. Perry was always a hard worker and wonderful provider for his family. He was a valued employee of Ventura County Coastal for 30 years. After his retirement, he decided to go back to work part-time with Harbor Freight for an additional 10 years. After 40 years of hard work he finally began filling his days with all the things that brought him the most joy. Family BBQ’s, camping, going out dancing with Flora, watching any sporting event, most especially the Super Bowl, afternoons enjoying beers and margaritas at Yolanda’s with Flora and friends and of course the many, many spur of the moment road trips to Las Vegas. Perry and Flora raised 3 children together; Robert A. Garcia, Roxanne G. Silva, and Randy P. Garcia. Additionally, they welcomed 14 grandchildren and 7 great grandchildren over the years. Their life together was truly blessed beyond measure. He also leaves behind his brothers, Jess & Dennis Garcia and sister Lupe Campos. The Garcia family wishes to thank everyone for the outpouring of love and support at this time. They take great comfort in knowing that their Mother and Father are reunited and dancing together to their favorite music in heaven. The celebration of his life will be held with a rosary prayer beginning at 9:30 am & funeral mass beginning at 10:00 am on Monday February 12, 2018 at Sacred Heart Church in Ventura. The burial service will then follow at approximately 11:00 am at Pierce Brothers Santa Paula Cemetery. Perry has been entrusted to the care of Perez Family Funeral Home.
