Raul "Rudy" Casares

Raul Casares, age 71, passed away on January 6, 2026. He had been challenged by multiple chronic illnesses for many years, among them Parkinson's Disease. His deep love for his children was the driving force behind his longevity.

Raul was born in Tulare, California, to parents Jose Casares and Guillerma Hernandez Casares. Raul's mother passed away when he was still a child, at which point his "Aunt Molly" became a second mother to him. Molly maintained that role throughout Raul's life, and Raul loved her dearly.

Raul worked decades as a child welfare social worker, in a series of demanding positions. He took his work seriously. He also made strong friendships of substance with co-workers wherever he was employed.

In terms of his closest kin, Raul is survived by his daughter Olivia Casares; his son Antonio Casares; his brother Joey Casares; and his sister Teresa Casares Kitts. He is also survived by his former wife, Michelle Casares, who married him in 1990, drawn to his kindness and love of family.

Raul will be remembered for his kind and soft-spoken nature, along with his unwavering commitment to his children. A very private man, he had a heart of gold.

He will be deeply missed.
