With deep love and profound sadness, the family of Ronald “Ron” Garcia announces his passing on October 2, 2025, surrounded by his family, at the age of 64.
Born on September 20, 1961, in Santa Paula, California, to Margarito and Frances Garcia, Ron lived a life defined by kindness, laughter, and hard work. Known for his bright smile, protective nature, quick humor, and unwavering guidance, he touched the hearts of everyone who knew him. He was a fighter — strong, resilient, and courageous —facing life’s challenges with determination and faith. Ron never wanted anyone to worry about him, but he worried about others often, always putting their needs before his own. He treated everyone like they were his own, welcoming all with love, warmth, and generosity.
Growing up, Ron played multiple sports and excelled in football and baseball. In high school, he was a varsity athlete, known for his competitive spirit and teamwork. That same drive, energy, and focus would later define how he worked, loved, and led his family throughout his life.
Ron built his life in Moorpark, California, where he shared 49 wonderful years — 41 of those years married — with his beloved wife, Yolanda “Yogi” San Miguel-Garcia. Together they created a home filled with love, laughter, and warmth. One of Ron’s greatest joys was simply being with Yogi. Whether they were dancing together at a family gathering or relaxing at home, their bond was undeniable — their love, the foundation of their family.
Together with Yogi and his brother Mike Garcia, Ron built a successful family business, M & R Landscape, in 1990 — a reflection of his commitment, determination, and work ethic. He was proud of what they achieved and even prouder of the relationships they built along the way.
Ron was a devoted husband, father, grandfather, brother, uncle, mentor, protector, dog dad, father figure to others, and friend. He was the proud father of Ronnie “Mijo” (Brittani “Britz”) Garcia, Monica “YoYo” (Steven “Steve” Salgado) Garcia, and Brianna “Patches” (Angel “Chris” “Larry” Amavizca) Garcia. His greatest joy in life was being “Papa” to his four beautiful granddaughters — Stevie “Titi” and Olivia “Lily” Salgado, Avereigh “Aves” Garcia, and Iylah Amavizca — who were his world and brought endless light into his life.
He is also survived by his loving siblings Mike Garcia, Frank Garcia, Peter (Magda) Garcia, Rudy (Sonia) Garcia, and Leticia (Robert Velasquez) Garcia. Ron was preceded in death by his parents, Margarito and Frances Garcia, and his brother, Larry Garcia.
Ron was a constant presence in the lives of those he loved. A coach for his children’s sports teams, he never missed a game, school event, or life milestone. He showed up every time — cheering the loudest, encouraging everyone to do their best, and teaching through both words and example. His competitive spirit was contagious, but so was his kindness.
Those who knew Ron will remember how he always gave the shirt off his back to help others. He was motivational and an active listener, the kind of man who could make anyone feel heard and supported. He wanted people to be better — not for him, but for themselves — and he had a gift for inspiring that in others.
On weekends, Ron loved being outside, surrounded by the people he loved most. He enjoyed camping, barbecuing, playing cornhole, singing, dancing with Yogi, watching the Rams and Dodgers, and listening to oldies. He loved margaritas, laughter, and family gatherings that filled the air with joy. Most of all, he cherished his time with his granddaughters — teaching them to play baseball, how to count, the letters in the alphabet, reading them stories, watching movies together, attending their school events, supporting them at swim classes and T-ball games, sneaking them snacks, and taking them for rides on the tractor or in the car.
Ron was infamous for his whistling and his love of chocolate cake, and he was rarely without his t-shirt, shorts, hat, sunglasses, and chanklas — or, on special days, his favorite buttoned-down Pendleton. He always matched his outfits from head to toe, just as he liked. He was also famous for making up nicknames for everyone — mostly because he was terrible at remembering names but could always remember faces — and for always capturing photos of everyone, especially his family. At Christmastime, Ron’s joyful spirit shone even brighter — he loved dressing up as Santa Claus to make his granddaughters and family laugh and smile.
Ron’s loud voice, big heart, and humor could fill any room. A true family man, he found joy in being surrounded by those he loved — talking, laughing, and making memories. He truly loved to have a good time and made sure everyone around him did, too.
Ron will be remembered for his strength, resilience, generosity, and love. He was protective, competitive, and deeply loyal, yet soft-spoken when someone needed comfort. His wisdom, mentorship, and compassion left a mark on everyone who knew him — and truly, everyone knew him.
All who knew him are welcome to join in celebrating his life. Memorial services will be held at the Perez Family Funeral Home in Camarillo, California, on Tuesday, October 14, at 10:00 a.m., with a reception to follow at the Perez Family Funeral Home. Burial will take place at 1:30 p.m. at Assumption Cemetery in Simi Valley, California.
Though Ron is no longer with us, his love, laughter, and spirit will live on in every smile, story, and memory shared by those whose lives he touched.
The Garcia family would like to extend their heartfelt gratitude to Robin Winzelberg, R.N., from Los Robles Hospital, for showing great kindness, empathy, and comfort to Ron and his family during his care. Your compassion and warmth brought peace during a difficult time. The family greatly appreciates you and will forever be thankful.
