Sandra Lee Bryan, age 72, of Moorpark, California passed away peacefully on December 19, at home. She was a loving wife, mother, grandmother, and nana.
She is survived by her children: Becky Hayden and her husband, Seth, and Tim Bryan and his wife, Penny; her grandchildren Kira and Emma Bryan; and her siblings Bob Niles, Patti Phillips, and Bill Niles; and Cadence and Ryan Hayden, who lovingly knew her as “Nana”; as well as dozens of cousins and nieces and nephews. She was preceded in death by her loving husband of 51 years, Patrick Bryan.
Sandra was born December 15, 1953 in New Mexico to the late Reno and Jeanne Niles. She graduated from Alta Loma High School in 1971 and then went to school for dental assisting. She moved to Northern California to be near her husband, who was a military police officer stationed at Fort Ord, and began working in a dental office. After Pat suffered a serious on-the-job injury as a firefighter, the family relocated to Moorpark. Sandra continued to work in the dental and medical fields until she retired.
Sandra had a heart for service and cherished her time giving back to the community. Throughout her years, you could find her assisting with many youth organizations. She was a Girl Scout Leader, Director of the Ventura County Scholarship Association, and a volunteer with Team Wish. She also was a founding member of the Moorpark Simi Valley Scholarship Association, where she worked tirelessly coaching teens in interview skills and preparing them in order to obtain their first jobs. Over the years, Sandra was honored with several community awards for her contributions to her community.
For many decades, Sandra was a tireless volunteer at her church. Some of her most beloved memories were those spent as a Sunday school teacher and a Thanksgiving meal organizer. It was in these moments that she taught her children the importance of giving back to their community.
Sandra also LOVED everything about Christmas! It started when she was little, often receiving Christmas themed items for her birthday. As an adult, she was known to move all of the decor out of her house for the season just to be able to accommodate her vast Christmas collection. She was thrilled to have had her collection showcased in Moorpark’s Holiday Tour of Homes and was excited to see it coming back for 2026.
Family and friends are invited to a Celebration of Life on Saturday, January 17, 2026 at 2:00pm at Moorpark United Methodist Church, 261 Flory Avenue, Moorpark, California, with a reception to follow.
