Scott Wesley McKeen

d. February 5, 2021

Gone from our sight but never gone from our hearts It is with great sadness that the family of Scott Wesley McKeen announce his sudden passing on the morning of February 5, 2021 at the age of 66. His presence in our lives is greatly missed. Scott was born in Santa Paula, California on May 4, 1954 to Elbert and Aliene McKeen. He lived his entire life in Santa Paula-A native son. Always ready with a smile and a good word, Scott had recently retired from almost 50 years laboring in the work force at Solo Cup Company, Shift Supervisor at GE/Borg Warner-Polycom and finally retiring from 17 years as Graffiti Abatement Specialist for the City of Santa Paula. Scott never met a stranger and loved to share stories about his cherished family, tales from the “bench” (Lakers, Dodgers, USC, NASCAR, Tiger Woods, Kobe, etc.) and catching up on the local “buzz”. He was a faithful spectator and encouraging presence at all of his kids’ and grandkids’ sports and “showtime” events. Such a proud Dad, Step-Dad and PaPa! He had a kind and generous heart-always ready to go that extra mile. He enjoyed coaching his sons in their early years of youth team sports and was soon able to share with them his love of his favorite sport. Basketball was his game and his relentless 3-point shot was his claim to fame. From the age of six until a knee injury in 2017 sidelined him from playing his beloved game, he tore up the courts. At one point he was playing in three leagues at a time, the “Fifty and Over” team being his favorite. He found a lot of enjoyment playing the game vicariously through several of his “Grands” who took up the sport, cheering and coaching from the bleachers at every game. His faithful presence at all the games will be greatly missed by all who knew his great love of family and sports. Scott will be forever missed by his wife of 30 years, Diane. His children and Step-Children, Mychal (Joanna) McKeen; Grant (Sandra) McKeen; Jennifer (Alex Zavala) Alaniz; Elias (Karina) Alaniz. His Grandchildren, Ashlee Rodriguez; Destiny McKeen; Aubree Alaniz; Alyssa Barron; Nathan Alaniz; Nolan McKeen; Alani McKeen; Jasmine Reyes; Antonio Reyes. Great Granddaughter, Mariah Jade McKeen. He is survived by his siblings, Steven (Karen) McKeen; Susan McKeen; Sidney (Janet) McKeen; Stanley (Suzy) McKeen as well as numerous Aunts, Uncles and Cousins. He was preceded in death by his parents, Elbert L. McKeen and Wilma Aliene Rose as well as his beloved Uncle, Cecil Ethridge. A casual dress code graveside Celebration of Life will be held at “The Angel Columbarium” at Pierce Brothers Cemetery in Santa Paula at 10:00 a.m. on Friday, March 19, 2021. “A life that touches others goes on forever”
