Socorro “Coco” Rivera Zarate

June 27, 1951 — January 5, 2024

Socorro "Coco" Rivera Zarate went to be with the Lord on January 5, 2024 at the age of 72 in Phoenix Arizona . 

She is survived by her four amazing children: Monica P. Zavala (Mark Sr.), Rosie A. Magallon (Sergio), Laura A. Zarate-Snodgrass and Jose A. Zarate (Kimberly), Grandchildren: Mark A. Zavala Jr., Sergio J. Magallon, Matthew A. Zavala, Monica A. Zavala, Caitlyn L. Magallon, Ethan A. Zarate, Addison G. Zarate and Jacob M. Zarate
Grandpuppies: Chelsea, Molly, Maleah, Chona and Naomi and Grandkittens, 
all of her brothers, sisters, nephews, nieces, great nephews and nieces, great-great nephew and niece, cousins and aunt.

She is preceded in death by her parents, Cande and Cheva Rivera, her husband, Abraham Zarate Arias, Son-In-Law, Randy Snodgrass and her grandpuppies.

Socorro was born in Ciudad Juarez, Chihuahua Mexico on June 27th, 1951.

Socorro lead a faith filled life, loving God, Jesus Christ, blessed Virgin Mary, Holy Spirit, and all of her family and friends. She loved going to church and prayed the rosary every day.

Before moving to Arizona, she was an active member at Our Lady of Guadalupe Church in Oxnard where she was part of the Apostolado de la Cruz, Legion de Maria, Catechism teacher and assisted with organizing weddings and quincianeras.

Socorro was very BLESSED to have lived in Hawaii for several years, and have been able to travel almost all over the world.  She visited the holy land twice, traveled to Europe, loved going on road trips, visiting many states across the country, including a trip to Wrigley Field, where she saw her beloved Cubs play.

Socorro loved music, singing and dancing to her favorite songs, bands in English and Spanish. She loved being around her family and friends, enjoying everyone's company.

To our beautiful and amazing mom who has now received her Angelic Wings. You will be dearly missed but will forever be in our hearts.  Your beautiful smile and beautiful laughter will be always imbedded in our hearts as well.  Thank you for being so awesome! Thank you for all the beautiful memories and moments you’ve shared with us throughout our lives.  Thank you for being the strong woman that we looked up to. Thank you for being our mentor and teacher. Thank you for being such a wonderful Nana, sister, daughter, aunt, niece, cousin and godmother.  Most importantly, thank you for being our mom! Jesus loves you so very much and we do too! Rest In Peace Momma!
