SUSAN KAYLOR MARGIN Susan Kaylor Margin, age 81, passed away peacefully on October 16, 2009 at Park Place Village in Camarillo, CA with her family at her side. Susan was born in Harrisonburg, VA on March 21, 1928, the youngest daughter of the late Ruth and Lupton Kaylor. She graduated from James Madison University in 1950 and was active in Pi Kappa Sigma Sorority. In 1950, she married Richard E. Margin, Sr. who preceded her in death in 2005 after 55 remarkable years. Susan began her married life in Waynesboro, PA where she taught school briefly and was involved with the Jayne-Cee’s, church organizations and had the benefit of many dear friendships and fond memories of picnics at Red Run and Caledonia. In 1961, the family moved to suburban Philadelphia where they resided for over 40 years. While residing in Malvern, she raised her children and became the consummate homemaker. She will best be remembered by everyone for her love of family, friends, cooking, music, sewing, reading and her gracious hospitality. Always humble and understated upon serving yet another extraordinary meal, Susan would simply state “I hope we can eat it.” Susan was also very involved with the Paoli Presbyterian Church, singing in the choir, active on the Wedding & Special Events Committee as well as serving as a Deacon. In addition, Susan volunteered in the Gift Shop at Bryn Mawr Rehabilitation Hospital and gave many hours of her time to Literacy programs for adults. In addition to her love of travel, one of her favorite activities was her weekly date with “The Lunch Bunch”, a devoted gathering of friends who met for over 25 years of companionship, support and caring. In 2001, Susan and Dick relocated to Hagerstown, MD and then to So. California in 2005. Her positive philosophy could be best epitomized by her favorite catchphrase, “Are we having any fun yet?” Susan is survived by her four children, Rick, his wife Geri and their sons Greg of Brick, NJ and Andrew of Chicago, IL; Kay Gilmore, her husband Jim and their sons Ben of Granada Hills, CA, Stephen of San Diego, CA, Alex and Jonathan of Newbury Park, CA; Beth Schwartz, her husband Stuart and their daughters Amanda and Emily and son Eric of Agoura Hills, CA; Jane Montebianco, her husband John and their son Tommy and daughter Madison of Glen Mills, PA as well her sister Jane Kaylor Evans of Virginia Beach, VA and many nieces, nephews and extended family throughout Virginia and Pennsylvania. Her other sister, Elaine Kaylor Cline also of Virginia Beach, VA passed away recently. She will be remembered as a sweet, kind and wonderful person, always devoted to her family and friends.
