It is with heavy hearts that we announce the passing of Veronica Maldonado Cortez, who passed away peacefully on July 15, 2026, at the age of 58, surrounded by her loved ones.
Born on February 26, 1968, known to many as Vero grew up in Santa Paula, California, where she created cherished memories with family and lifelong friends. She later made her home in Oxnard, where she continued to share her warmth, kindness, and generous spirit with everyone she met.
Veronica’s greatest joy in life was spending time with her family and friends. She treasured every gathering, celebration, and opportunity to create lasting memories with the people she loved. She was known for her caring heart, infectious smile, and ability to make others feel welcome and appreciated.
She also found happiness in life’s simple pleasures. Veronica loved playing bingo, finding great deals through couponing, and expressing her creativity through crafting. These hobbies reflected her resourcefulness, creativity, and fun-loving personality.
Veronica was preceded in death by her mother, Virginia Sanchez and grandmother, Adela Maldonado. She is survived by her daughter, Lanessa Lopez; her son, Sebastian Cortez; her brother, Richard Maldonado; her nephew, Christian Maldonado; and numerous aunts, uncles, cousins, and dear friends who will forever cherish her memory.
